Rose season is here, and it's the perfect time to enjoy one of our favorite Roses made with Pinot Noir! 2023 is another fantastic rendition of this serious Rose from Francois Crochet and is consistently one of the best examples we have tasted, and for good reason, too. This Rose is an early-picked selection from Francois Crochet's Pinot Noir vineyard, which is also used for other cuvees. The vines are approximately 20 years old and biodynamically farmed, with fruit harvested by hand and pressed whole cluster before undergoing a short maceration and aging in a tank for six months. This earlier-picked fruit pairs exceptionally well with Rose, complementing its more delicate profile and short maceration period, during which it develops a radiant pink hue. The earlier-picked fruit also improves the quality of the final crop they use for their Sancerre Rouge (Pinot Noir), a process similar to green harvesting but conducted at a later date. The Crochet Rose is so delicate and pure with lovely red flowers, currant, red cherry pit, orange zest, and some beautiful liquid minerals. The palate is elegant and pure, with the red fruit flavors dominating before turning to a lovely mineral and saline finish. We are very selective about the Roses we offer, and this is one of only a handful that make our list. The 2023 Rose from Francois Crochet is drinking so well now and is the perfect complement to the summer!
