Maria Andrea makes some of our favorite wines in Northern Spain, and we have a fantastic white from the Ribeiro located northwest of the province of Ourense (Galicia). Many new winemakers are hitting the scene here and resurrecting old and forgotten wine varietals like Treixadura and Loureira. 2023 was another ideal year for Galicia, and this Blanco is a blend of 50% Treixadura, 25% Albarino, and 25% Loureira grapes, co-fermented and aged in neutral tanks and barrels. We just tasted the 2023 and it was exceptional. The aromas are beguiling with notes of white flowers, stone fruits, minerals, crushed fresh herbs, saline, and a touch of diesel. The palate is fresh and clean, the stone fruits dominating, with lots of dry extracts and a wonderful salinity. It's a perfect aperitif, excellent with fish, salad, or lighter fare, and ideal to sip while preparing dinner. Our clients love this one, and we have a limited number arriving next week at this great price!
Vinous 90 pts! The 2023 Blanco María Andrea, crafted from Treixadura, Albariño and Loureira in Castrelo de Miño in the Miño Valley, Ribeiro, presents green hues with hints of banana and tropical notes over a backdrop of wafer-like lees. The palate is creamy, enveloping and voluptuous, showcasing maturity and medium concentration. Indulgent and flavorful, it offers a rich profile. (Drink between 2025 - 2033)
