See our original offer below.

We tasted over 20 different chocolates from around the world, and there were plenty of impressive bars, but we were looking for something that was going to blow our minds, and we found it. Cacaosuyo is a Peruvian operation that sources the best Cacao from three areas in Peru, Cuzco, the once capital of the Incan Empire; Piura, a northern desert city; and the Peruvian Amazon. Cacaosuyo works directly with indigenous farmers in what they call direct trade, as opposed to fair trade. This puts them in close contact with many of the Incan peoples, where they directly benefit from their century's knowledge of Cocao cultivation. Many of them had no idea how rare and excellent their Cacao was and would blend the high-quality with the low-quality Cocao until Cacaosuyo educated them on the process that allowed the farmers to make a lot more money. Lakuna is from Criollo Cocao grown in the Amazon. If you were a fan of Akesson's Chocolate, you might remember that Criollo is the rarest and more valuable strain of Cocao in the world. The Lakuna took home the gold medal in the International Chocolate Awards World in 2019 and is it is easy to see why. This is the most complex chocolate we have ever tried, and breaking a bar open reveals a seductive high-toned Peony aroma with deep earthy notes. Pefume-y and floral at first bite with licks of richness popping though as the vibrant red cherry and cranberry fruit works its way in with exotic notes of bergamot, papaya, and a dark honey-like richness. The more it melts in your mouth, the more intense and dynamic it becomes, showing a delicate dance between savory, earthy, coffee, and toffee umami-like flavors and outstanding fruity notes with high acidity. There are many subtleties to this; it's really like enjoying a fine wine from start to finish, with something new popping up every taste. It's incredibly lingering and finishes with a mouth-watering sensation that keeps drawing you back for more. This is a pure representation from Peru and is only made with Cocao and cane sugar, making it a good choice for those who stay away from dairy. It is truly one of the ultimate dark chocolate's we have ever tasted, and if you enjoyed our Akesson's offerings or are just a chocolate eater like us, we cannot recommend this enough. Simply mind-blowing! We have three different bars from Cacaosuyo available below.
