Some will recognize DeCarlo from the fantastic sundried tomatoes we offer. Founded in the 1600s in Puglia, DeCarlo is known for its olive oils and is considered one of Italy's top producers. Flavored oils can be a bit of a gimmick that dont offer quality flavor, but these were highly recommended by a industry friend, so we gave them a shot, and did they deliver. The difference here is the fresh estate-grown fruit and herbs added to the olives during grinding, whole bushels of basil, whole oranges, and whole lemons, are ground up with the olives, melding real, fresh flavors right from the get-go. The freshness, intensity, and balance between the olive oil and the flavors is perfect. For example, lemon smells like fresh-cut lemons in beautiful peppy olive oil. DeCarlo calls these flavored oils 'Elixirs,' and it's easy to see why; there is a magic that takes you away to a beautiful day in the Italian countryside, adding massive yet simple flavors to an endless variety of dishes. This adds a fresh lemon flavor without adding acidity to the dish, much like using lemon zest. Great for dressings, finishing dishes, seasoning fish and chicken, and also in baked cakes and biscuits. Drizzled over cheese with honey is also delicious.
