Egly-Ouriet Champagne Grand Cru Brut Tradition [Pre-Arrival]

$69.99
Egly-Ouriet Champagne Grand Cru Brut Tradition [Pre-Arrival]
Here's a follow up to our Egly-Ouriet offer from a few days ago, which features a non-vintage grand cru, Brut Tradition. Egly-Ouriet is an excellent address for serious grower Champagne's, with an impressive line up of vineyards, Egly-Ouriet works out of the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay. As stated before, Egly-Ouriet is one of the grower Champagne Movement's originals. Francis Egly has been running the operation since the early 80s after taking over from his father practicing Organic viticulture with old vine parcels, and a nack for picture-perfect wines. The Champagnes here continue to be as impressive as ever and come highly recommended as some of the best terroir-driven grower Champagnes around. The fruit for the Brut Tradition is mostly sourced from the grand cru village of Ambonnay, with 10% coming from Bouzy and Verzenay. This Cuvee blend is 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, which is fermented traditionally in barrels with 15% being new and a blocked Malolactic fermentation. The Brut tradition spends 48 months on the lees, which is quite a bit longer than most Champagnes at this level and finished with a very low dosage of 2g/l. This is a Champagne that shows many red fruits on the palate and nose with the richness of Ambonnay fruit leading the charge but still so energetic and fresh. A great bottle of grower-Champagne and annually an address that sets the bar
