Henriot Cuve 38 Champagne Magnum

$499.99
Henriot Cuve 38 Champagne Magnum

In 1990, Joseph Henriot had a vision that resulted in Cuve 38. He decided to set aside in a single vat – Cuve 38– a blend made up exclusively from four of the finest Chardonnay Grand Crus: Chouilly, Avize, Oger, and Mesnil-sur-Oger. Each year, a portion of outstanding Blanc de Blancs is added to the vat, capturing the essence of every harvest. In so doing, Joseph Henriot has created a perpetual blend, both complex and rare, only available in magnum. This bottling has the tall order of replacing the famed Enchanteleaurs. We have had the opportunity to taste every release of this Cuvee so far, which have been spectacular, complex, and precise Champagnes. In its short time of being on the market, this Cuvee has already proven itself as the new Tete de Cuvee of the House and as a top Champagne contender.

John Gilman 95 pts! "This is the third iteration of Henriot’s brilliant Cuve 38 bottling. The wine spent five years aging sur latte and was finished with a dosage of four grams per liter. It offers up a beautifully complex nose of lemon, apple, warm biscuits, chalky minerality, white flowers and a nice touch of orange zest in the upper register. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied and impeccably balanced, with a rock solid core of fruit, very refined mousse, excellent focus and complexity and a very, very long, still quite youthful finish. As this is Henriot’s brilliant solera bottling, it already has a lovely touch of secondary layers of complexity on the nose, but it is a young thoroughbred on the palate and will want some extended cellaring to really reach its magical summit of development. Brilliant juice. (Drink between 2019-2050)"
