2019 Producteurs Plaimont Saint-Mont Les cepages preserves Eta W/O 9-2-2024

This is a lovely white from southwest of France; the vineyards are in the foothills of the Pryneees mountains. This hundred-hectare estate of twenty-five-year-old vines comprised of Gros Manseng, Petit Corbu, and Arrufiac has been farmed organically for years, just not certified as such. The idea behind this wine is to re-introduce grape varietals that have become almost extinct in south of France. This is an extraordinary effort in our eyes that has produced a lovely vineyard-driven refreshing white at only 13% alcohol. The is fermented and added in tank and spends some extra time on the lees to develop richness. The aromas of apricot, peach, lemongrass, liquid minerals, and savory herbs jump from the glass. The palate is focused and pure with stone fruit flavors, salinity, and lots of dry extract on the zippy finish.  It is a lovely choice if you are looking for a refreshing white, a lovely wine to sip while you are cooking or to serve as an aperitif.

Decanter Panel tasting 95 pts! A jewel of a wine (Gros Manseng with Petit Courbu and Arrufiac), so particular and distinctive, showing no ambition other than singing its origin. Aromas of apple and notes of vibrant peach, mirabelle plum, dried herbs and a suave enhancement of lees. Elegant and quite delicious with a finesse and fine spine of acidity. Nominated by Ines Salpico (Drink between 2023 - 2035)
