2017 Domaine Pavelot (Jean-Marc et Hugues) Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru La Dominode 375ml

$29.99
2017 Domaine Pavelot (Jean-Marc et Hugues) Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru La Dominode 375ml
One of the best addresses in Savigny Les Beaune, we love the wines from Jean-Marc Pavelot for their classic yet refined traditional and vineyard-driven style. We have a late release today for the top wine made here in half bottle at this special pricing. This is a rare find in the format but is a serious example in this small size. Sourced from vines up to 80 years old, this has been the bar-setting bottle in Savigny for decades and was Pavelot's best wine in 2017. The 2017 vintage was a great year with good quantity after the short 2016 vintage, good overall quality, and ripeness, which was a blessing to many vignerons. While most producers made good wines, the top addresses excelled, and this was one of the best examples to come from Savigny. While it wasn't a concentrated vintage, the wines are very elegant, and the Dominode here has incredible potential, with 7 years in the bottle, it is starting to show very well now and should come around sooner in this smaller size. It is one of the top vintages for the Dominode of all time, and we have a few cases at this great price.

John Gilman 94+ points! "The 2017 la Dominode is the most structured young Savigny premier cru in the cellars, but its potential is enormous. The youthful nose was still in the process of absorbing its serving of new oak, but will do so seamlessly with a bit more age, and offers up a fine blend of black plums, red and black cherries, pigeon, dark soil tones, raw cocoa, a bit of bonfire, cedar and an exotic topnote of licorice. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nicely reserved out of the blocks, with an excellent core of fruit, fine-grained tannins and a long, soil-driven and complex finish. This is serious juice."
