N.V. Christophe Mignon Champagne ADN de Meunier Rose de Saignee Brut Nature

$59.99
N.V. Christophe Mignon Champagne ADN de Meunier Rose de Saignee Brut Nature
The Champagnes from Christophe Mignon are among some of the best vineyard-driven examples made strictly using Biodynamic and organic principles. These magnificent Grower Champagnes take biodynamics to the Ph.D. level, like Benoit Marguet. The goal of Christophe Mignon has always been to capture the DNA of the terror and fruit (Pinot Meunier). So much so that they have recently rebranded, and ADN (DNA in French) has replaced "Pur" on all labels, but the cuvees are unchanged.
Pinot Meunier is the staple of this small house and the basis for their Champagnes; the grape has seen a magnificent return to popularity over the last decade thanks to a few incredible and driven producers like Christophe Mignon. The Rose de Saignee sees this brilliantly grown fruit from vineyards located in Festigny and Le Breuil in the Marne Valley planted on silt, clay, and limestone, with one parcel, used that is over 50 years old. Fruit is hand harvested with vinification in steel tanks with no malolactic fermentation. It spends about 36 hours macerating to get the desired color before the juice is bled away.
It is a powerful example of Pinot Meunier rose and made in the Saignee style; one would expect it to be a bit more rustic, but it is quite refined. It's a very complex champagne and shows an array of nuts, spices, chocolate notes, and wild red fruits. This is a less exotic style of Pinot Meunier and is more classic and precise, disgorged with zero dosage after spending 40 months on the lees.
We have a nice price here on a few cases, and it is an excellent bottle from Christophe Mignon not to miss.
