Chartogne Taillet is a personal favorite of ours; the champagnes are stunning and have great freshness and structure. They have a polish that many Grower-Producers tend to overlook but are still growers through and through, very unique. Alexandre is an ambitious young vigneron that trained with Anselme Selosse. He continues to master and remaster the vineyards that the Romans and Monks planted in the village of Merfy in the Montagne de Reims. He is never satisfied, never sure, he follows no guidelines and is only focused on one point, making the best Champagne he can. Alexandre also farms all his vineyards organically. Saint Anne is a village wine that shows just how sensational a non-cru can be with the proper guidance and is a way the introductory chapter to Alexandre's Champagne Story. A blend of 50% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay, and 10% Pinot Meunier. The base vintage is 2018 (50%), with the balance being reserve vintages. Vinified in stainless steel and oak barrels. The dosage here is pretty low as well coming in around 5g/l.
