It has been far too long since we have offered Gosset's, Grande Rose. A specialty from the house, The Grande Rose is a simply delicious and elegant little half bottle. The Champagnes from Gosset have been a staple for us for so many years, and the Rose is one we always love to have on hand at home. We typically prefer this bottle to their Tete de Cuvee Rose Celebris for accessibility and up-front curb appeal. Like many great Rose's, Gosset's is a fine-tuned work of art with its twists on how a Rose should be made. The Grande Rose never goes through Malo, allowing the Rose to age longer on the lees and develop more complexity while still retaining focus and energy. A Blend o f 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay from the great villages of Avize, Chouilly, Villers-Marmery, Bouzy, Ambonnay, and Verzenay. A percentage of still red, specifically from Bouzy and Ambonnay, is added to get the proper color. The Grande Rose also saw a good amount of reserve wine from the 2012 vintage. Aged for a minimum of 3 years, Gosset holds them back even longer in the bottle until worthy of release. Such a great Rose in half bottle; we have a friendly price here and cannot recommend this enough for the Champagne fans out there.
John Gilman 93 points! "The current release of the excellent Gosset Grand Rosé is from the base year of 2013, with reserve wines from the 2012 vintage. It is composed from a cépages of fifty percent chardonnay and fifty percent pinot noir, with eight percent of this being still red wine. It was aged for four years sur latte and finished with a dosage of eight grams per liter. The beautiful bouquet wafts from the glass in a wide open and complex blend of strawberries, tangerine, rye toast, a lovely base of minerality, a delicate touch of spice tones and a topnote of dried rose petals. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, zesty and complex, with excellent mid-palate depth and mineral drive, elegant mousse and a long, complex and beautifully balanced finish. This is outstanding Brut Rosé!" (Drink between 2020-2045)
Wine Enthusiast (Roger Voss) 93 points! "Heading towards dryness, this pale-colored rosé Champagne is also rich. Its red-currant and crisp apple flavors are laced with citrus zest to give a wine that has fine balance. This bottling is ready to drink"
