Goutorbe Bouillot is a Champagne producer with a rich history dating back to 1911. Situated in the Marne Valley, the estate spans 10 hectares of vineyards primarily planted with Pinot Meunier, which constitutes 60% of their production, along with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Known for emphasizing terroir-driven winemaking, they employ traditional methods, including a long aging process on the lees, to enhance complexity and richness. The winery is noted for producing high-quality vintages with some excellent perpetual cuvees like the Relets de Riviere, which we have today. The fruit for this wine comes from Damery and is organically grown on clay-limestone soil. It is a blend of 60% Pinot Meunier, 20% Chardonnay, and 20% Pinot Noir, averaging 40+ years old. This wine undergoes no malolactic fermentation and receives juice from a perpetual reserve that dates back to 1980. The champagne is then aged on the lees for 30 months before disgorgement with a 6-8 gram dosage. Fresh with excellent terroir expression and focused attack showing aromas of stone fruit, citrus, minerals, and white flowers along with some aged depth from the old juice added from the perpetual reserve. Acidity is excellent and brings lots of life to the palate, echoing citrus notes with a long mineral-tinged finish. It makes for the perfect aperitif but also pairs well with lighter fare like carpaccio or crudo. It's an excellent bottle to get acquainted with this house, and we have great pricing on these two sizes today, showing Goutorbe Bouillot's dedication to sustainable viticulture and minimal intervention, underscoring their commitment to preserving the distinct characteristics of their vineyards as a house to keep an eye on in the future. These are our last bottles in stock, so grab them while you can!
