reviously known as simply 'Blanc de Blancs', Longitude is the non-vintage 100% Chardonnay bottling from Larmandier Bernier. The Chardonnay here is sourced from four Cote de Blancs villages: Vertus, Oger, Avize, and Cramant. When you line the villages up on the map, they create an almost straight line that matches the 4th meridian, this plus the focused style of the Champagne is where it gets its name. Longitude is very precise, linear, palate staining, and intense. There is a very forward minerality as well here that Larmandier-Bernier likes to show off in their Champagnes. The longitude makes the perfect aperitif or accompaniment to a light appetizer before a meal. We've tasted at Larmandier-Bernier once before and it really helped us gain a deeper understanding of the incredible Champagne they produce. We've had a few customers reach out to us about this Champagne and we figured it was a great time to offer it.
Antonio Galloni 94 Points! "The NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs 1er Cru Longitude is powerful, resonant and beautifully textured in the glass. This is the Larmandier-Bernier style at its best. Almond, dried flower, lemon confit, chamomile and mint are all laced together in a super-expressive, resonant Champagne that is firing on all cylinders today. Ample and enveloping, the Longitude is a wine of pure and total class. Longitude is 1005 Chardonnay taken from chalk and limestone-rich sites in Vertus, Cramant and Oger that sit at the same longitude. Of these, only Vertus is a 1er Cru village, as Cramant and Oger are both Grand Crus. The current release is 60% 2013 and 40% reserve wines. Dosage is 4 grams per liter. Disgorged: December 2017."
