In stock after patiently waiting, we have a few cases of this brilliant rose from Paul Dethune of Ambonnay. One of the top bottles for Grower Rose that we have been working with for years, this is a staple and a masterfully crafted bottle of bubbles. With its grand cru fruit and precise character, it is an incredible buy at this pricing and a not one to miss for the Rose Champagne lover.
A long-time favorite and one of the Rose's we started offering when Grower Champagne started gaining popularity, Paul Dethune is from a lineage of growers and winemakers dating back to the 1600s. Dethune only works with Grand cru sites, and the conversion to organic is most welcome and should have a positive effect on their wines from here on out though they have practiced sustainable methods for years now.
As mentioned, the Rose here has been a long-time staple of the house, and with its grand cru fruit sourced from Ambonnay, it is a fantastic buy for the category. The blend here has always been 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay from the current vintage, in addition to 30-50% reserve wines and some still red for color, which is aged in large oak casks. This Rose has a velvety mouse and salmon-colored tinge with wild red fruit, fresh herbs, spices, vibrant acidity, chalky minerality, and an overall excellent sense of balance and detail. The palate is ample and fresh, with wonderful red fruits popping through with an outstanding mineral presence and a resonating finish. The dosage here from our previous tasing assessments seems to be around 7g/l, which works very well here. This Rose pairs perfectly with many different types of cuisine, from slightly spicy, to Sushi and naturally sweet desserts. There is a lot to love here, and in this price range, it is a serious Rose contender and a Champagne that is not imported in much quantity, but for the Rose fans out there, this is worth checking out at this US low pricing.
