It has been a while since we offered this Cuvee, so an offer is overdue. Vazart-Coquart is a small Cote des Blancs Domaine in the Grand Cru village of Chouilly, which is home to beautiful, powerful Chardonnay. The fruit is sourced from a few different Chardonnay plots, each around 30+ years old. This is a true “Reserve” non-vintage with 35% of the blend coming from past years dating back to 1982, giving a beautiful, slightly golden color with a mousse of ripe pear, apple, brioche, and minerals. On the palate, there is incredible depth and richness held in check by beautiful acidity. The finish is palate-staining with gobs of dry extract and lingering yellow fruit flavors. To have a Champagne with this high of a percentage of reserve wine at this price is a rarity. Always nicely vinous but with the delicacy of the Cotes de Blancs. We have some fun half bottles this time around, which is one of our favorite ways to enjoy the base vintage for these is 2016.
