2009 Pierre de Crillon Gevrey Chambertin 1er Fonteny

$79.99
2009 Pierre de Crillon Gevrey Chambertin 1er Fonteny

Today, we have a bit more of this excellent Burgundy with age, released ex-cellar directly from Pierre de Crillon in pristine condition. A friend of ours in France recommended these wines, saying they were great textbook Burgundies at excellent prices. Pierre de Crillon is a discreet producer with holdings in a few of Gevrey's best terroirs, and today, we have some of the 2009 Fontenys, which is an incredible buy for the category.  The 2009 Fonteny is an excellent example of this Gevrey premier cru sourced from a compact ~3.7 ha slope just below the grand crus near Ruchottes, on stony limestone that gives lifted red fruit, floral spice, and excellent minerality. The 2009 is a riper and more plush vintage, offering fleshy raspberry, sweet spice, and silkier texture while retaining site definition thanks to classic winemaking here. It's a smart buy for premier cru Gevrey, and having rested undisturbed in the domaine's cellars until now, makes it all the better. This is a rare chance to experience mature and perfectly aged Burgundy from one of the region's finest appellations at fantastic pricing.
