2022 Domaine de Panisse Châteauneuf-du-Pape Le Mas

$49.99
2022 Domaine de Panisse Châteauneuf-du-Pape Le Mas

This is the last call at this special pricing for the best Chateauneuf du Pape buy of the vintage! Domaine de Panisse is a 3-hectare estate purchased by Sophie Vacheron of Domaine de Caillou in 2020. This is a special site containing vines over 70 years old, all based inside the Lieu dit La Janasse. These factors caught the eyes of Sophie and winemaker Bruno Gaspard, who produced their first Le Mas vintage in 2020. With a few years of practice here, the wines have progressively improved, with 2022 being the best example made so far. Les Mas is a blend of Grenache 55% (Some planted in 1924!), 20% Syrah, 20% Mourvèdre, and 5% Cinsault. Grapes are always hand harvested, double sorted, destemmed, and vinified in concrete tanks with wild yeast before aging in demi-muids and barrels for 14 months. It's a complex and elegant wine that checks nearly every box for a great CDP, and it is a fraction of the price of the regular Clos de Caillou wines. We have special pricing today on these last bottles, so don't miss it!

Wine Advocate (Yohan Castaing) 95 points! "A brilliant wine in the making, the 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape Le Mas exhales deep, elegant aromas of violet, lilac, dark cherries and garrigue, followed by a medium to full-bodied, round and gourmand palate enhanced by velvety tannins, bright acids and a fleshy core of fruit that leads the way to a long, peppery and savory finish. This is a blend of 55% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah and 5% Cinsault, all planted on La Janasse lieu-dit."

Jeb Dunnuck 94-96 points! "Bringing another level of refinement and complexity, the 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Le Mas offers notes of black raspberries, new leather, flowery incense, sandalwood, and spice, followed on the palate by a medium to full-bodied, concentrated red with ripe tannins, plenty of mid-palate depth, and a gorgeous finish. It's a brilliant Châteauneuf Du Pape in the making."

Vinous (Nicholas Greinacher) 93 points! "Forest strawberry, black pepper, crushed violets and dried herb pinches present the 2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Le Mas. Medium-bodied at most, the 2022 contains finely sculpted tannins that provide gentle structure. Polished and refreshing, it concludes with a refined finale. (Drink between 2025-2038)"
