Larruau is an incredible Bordeaux value located within walking distance from Rauzan Segla and shares a border with vineyards from first-growth Chateau Margaux. The 2018 Bordeaux vintage has shaped up to be rather excellent, and though it was a riper year, which gives the wines some lovely upfront fruit, there is plenty of structure and concentration. However, let's remember the elegance that the Margaux appellation is noted for, which the Larruau beautifully shows. 2018 possesses lovely aromas of cassis, violets, graphite, game, and some baking spices. The palate is concentrated but so light on its feet, with lingering notes of cassis and spices that fan out on the finish like a peacock's tail.
