The fourth vintage of this Cuvee from Drouhin, the Vosne 1er, is a bit of a Burgundy insider buy, and though it is catching on among the savvy, it's still an excellent buy at the premier cru level. The beauty behind this bottle is the vineyards that the fruit is sourced, coming from the premier crus Petit Monts, Malconsorts, and a bit of Chaume. The Vosne 1er sets the bar very high for premier cru blends, and even though this is a newer Cuvee, it is one of the best buys in its class. When comparing the new release Petit Monts and Malconsorts, the Vosne 1er cru is about a third of the cost. Easily one of the most exciting best buys from Drouhin and not to mention a rare bottle to come across, 2019 is poised to the best yet of this excellent premier cru Cuvee. A nice note from Burghound below, who just tasted this wine less than two months ago.
Allen Meadows 92 points! "There is a touch of herbal tea sitting atop the exceptionally spicy aromas of cassis, plum liqueur, anise, clove and hoisin. The sleek, delicious and sophisticated medium weight flavors possess a velvety, yet muscular mouthfeel while exhibiting excellent length on the austere, compact and firm finale. This needs to develop more depth but the extended development potential seems clear."
