2020 Domaine Bruno Clavelier Bourgogne Champs D'Argent Vieilles Vignes

$39.99
2020 Domaine Bruno Clavelier Bourgogne Champs D'Argent Vieilles Vignes
Champs d'Argent is always an excellent rare find from one of the master winemakers of Burgundy, Bruno Clavelier. One of the most limited Bourgogne Rouge's there are really any bottles of this cuvee avaialble in the USA and right now we have the only ones. The fruit for this wine comes from a vineyard on the Vosne-Romanee and Nuit St. Georges border from vines that are now 70 years old. It's always a remarkable wine and one of our favorite Bourgogne Rouge bottlings with 2020 being exceptionally good. One that can be enjoyed now but will most certainly do well with some time in the cellar thanks to the classical nature of these wines at the hands of Bruno's Classical winemaking. one that shows some serious old vine concentration for the Bourgogne level, with great fresh fruit and terroir expression. A not-to-miss bottle from one of the top producers in Burgundy, we only have a limited amount available, so act quickly!

Tasting note by Allen Meadows "Here the ripe and fresh fruit is derived more from the red side of the fruit spectrum while exhibiting plenty of earth and floral elements. There is slightly better volume and even better energy to the solidly dense medium weight flavors that also culminate in a slightly rustic and youthfully austere finish that is just a bit more structured. Worth a look. (Drink starting 2024)"

Tasting note by Jasper Morris "Another rich fresh purple. 70 year old vines on silty clay, well below the main road. This has a clarity and purity, raspberry and redcurrant fruit, fine acidity and excellent length for a Bourgogne. Consider all the boxes ticked!"
