Les Deux Terres is a wine that comes from Two Terroirs, Burgundy and Beaujolais. Every year, Thibault works with several Domaines and selects their best fruit for the blend here, which is a combination of fruit from the Haut Cote de Nuits, Bourgogne, and Beaujolais Crus. While the blend changes every vintage depending on what's best, it is typically 40% Chénas, 15% Fleurie, 30% Moulin à Vent for the Gamay, and 15% Pinot Noir from Bourgogne and Hautes Côte de Nuits. It is a cuvee designed to be the ultimate marriage between Pinot Nori and Gamay, highlighting their unique strengths in one bottle.
A beautiful quaffer but with a serious side, this is one of the best of its kind and is a lovely bottle that both Burgundy and Beaujolais fans will enjoy showing a bit more lush fruit from the Gamay that new world drinkers will also appreciate.
Tasting Note by Jasper Morris "85% of the blend is gamay from the Beaujolais crus of Chénas, Moulin-à-Vent and Morgon, supplemented by 15% pinot noir from the Côte d’Or. Rich black purple, considerable power here, but some grace as well. A little bit reductive. Plenty of guts here, vibrant fruit, not too acid and very long."
Tasting not by Allen Meadows "Ripe aromas of pepper, earth and red and dark currant give way to rich and relatively concentrated middle weight flavors that conclude in a reasonably long finish where hints of warmth and rusticity appear."
