2021 Domaine Latour-Giraud Meursault Cuvée Charles Maxime

$99.99
2021 Domaine Latour-Giraud Meursault Cuvée Charles Maxime
The Cuvee Charles Maxime is one of the best village buys for white Burgundy this vintage, and we have a limited amount in stock today at this low pricing from this classic Domaine. As we mentioned in our last offer, Latour Giraud is a classic Domaine with family roots in Meursault going back to 1680. The family had a brief stint making Marc de Bourgogne at the Hospices of Mersault before moving to wine. Today, Jean-Pierre Latour heads this 10-hectare estate, with holdings in some of the best vineyards of Meursault.
The Cuvee Charles Maxime is named after the two ancestors of the House, Charles Giraud and Maxime Latour. The domaine wanted to make a village wine of immense quality typical of the region, and they succeeded this vintage with one of the single best examples of this cuvee of all time. This is premier cru quality and for a good reason because this sees declassified fruit from some of their best premier cru sites, including Perrieres, Boucheres, and Poruzots, because there was not enough quantity to bottle them separately in this short vintage. The results are outstanding, and this is a brilliant example from Latour Giraud.
2021 is an exceptional vintage, with some of the concentration and richness that 2020 had but with more purity and elegance, creating a beautiful interplay of power and finesse. This cuvee has big potential and is a truly classic example of Meursault. We have low pricing on this exceptional bottle, and it is not a white burgundy to miss in 2021.

Jasper Morris 92-95 pts!  "23 barrels including small quantities of declassified 1er Crus Perrières, Bouchères and Porusots which could not be made separately. Full bright yellow with a little green in the background. A touch of bacon fat here, but very soon it is the pure full fat fruit of Meursault which comes to the fore. A fine volume of dense white fruit, it may not go full butter and hazelnuts, but seekers after a properly classical Meursault will get their money’s worth here. Fine fresh long finish with some ripe greengage and a ripe citrus touch. Drink from 2025-2031."
