2022 Catherine et Pascal Rollet Pouilly-Fuissé Domaine de la Chapelle Vieilles Vignes

$39.99
2022 Catherine et Pascal Rollet Pouilly-Fuissé Domaine de la Chapelle Vieilles Vignes
This wine is not your typical Pouilly-Fuissse. The 2022 Catherine et Pascal Rollet Domaine de la Chapelle Pouilly-Fuissé "Vieilles Vignes" comes from a small, sustainably managed vineyard in Burgundy, focusing on old vines. This vintage reflects the Rollets' commitment to minimal intervention and precise viticulture, with grapes harvested by hand from vines 60 to 80 years old. This is a stunning laser-beamed focused Pouilly-Fuisse showing unique mineral and fruity characteristics of the Pouilly-Fuissé terroir. Aged in various ages of oak barrels plus some stainless steel vats, it's the perfect balance of freshness and purity. There are lovely aromas of orchard blossoms, yellow fruits, and liquid minerals that give way to the palate, which feels more like Chablis than Pouilly Fuisee, showing incredible cut and focus with lots of dry extract and salinity. The 2022 vintage is a product of careful navigation through the year's climatic challenges, resulting in a wine that balances intensity with elegance, characteristic of the Rollet family's approach to expressing the distinct qualities of their vineyard. If you love classic Chardonnay, this is a must-buy and exceptional for what it is.

Vinous (Neal Martin) 91-93 pts! "The 2022 Pouilly-Fuissé Vielles Vignes, taken as a barrel sample, has a backward nose that was difficult to read at the moment. However, the palate is vibrant and slightly viscous in texture, with another impressive bead of acidity that foments tension. Of course, it's very primal at the moment, but there is a dab of licorice emerging on the finish that I find intriguing. Look out for this. (Drink between 2026 - 2036)"
