One of the best deals for Grand Cru Red Burgundy we have found this year, this is a fantastic value for a vineyard as prized as Clos de la Roche. Armand Vincenot operates in the same way that producers like Charles Noellat do, working with purchased grapes or juice in a negociant style. While Armand Vincenot may not own any vineyards, they are able to pick and choose the best deals of the vintage and, in this instance, the ability to produce an excellent example of Clos de la Roche at unheard-of pricing. We tasted this when we were in France recently and it was a correct example of this great vineyard that is drinking well now. While 2018 is a riper, more powerful vintage, this is still quite elegant, showing profound aromatics, beautiful purity of fruit, and a lingering finish with the weight one would expect from a grand cru of this level. This is the best deal for Clos de la Roche, hands down, from any vintage available right now, and is worth the ticket price.
