2022 Domaine Bertheau (Pierre et François) Chambolle-Musigny 1er

$109.99
2022 Domaine Bertheau (Pierre et François) Chambolle-Musigny 1er
We have a bit more of one of the top buys from Bretheau. The Chambolle 1er cru is a tremendous bottle that offers the same attention to detail and elegance as the greater wines. We have been working directly with Bertheau almost since the very beginning of Envoyer and have tried many vintages during that time. Bertheau is one of Burgundy's most elegant producers, working with the very elegant Terroir in Burgundy, Chambolle-Musigny. As the adage goes, the deepness of color doesn't equate to Burgundy's quality, and these ruby red masterpieces have that old-school knack of putting on weight in the bottle while retaining their terroir transparency and lightness of touch. We have tasted with Francois many times, and he has a very traditional approach to his vinification, using older barrels with very little intervention, preferring a hands-off approach and letting his wines slowly develop. 2022 is a very promising and much-needed vintage after the very challenging '21s, and while it wasn't the perfect vintage, with yield still down slightly, the fruit was healthy and a blessing to the vignerons. This year, Pinot Noir should show good concentration, structure, and a bit more weight, which will pair very well with the delicate, detailed style of Bertheau.
The Chambolle 1er is Sourced from four excellent Lieux-dits from a total of 1.1 hectares of vines: Noirots, Les Baudes (just below Bonnes Mares), Groseilles, and Gruenchers (both below Les Fuées, the two plots count some of the oldest vines of the domaine). All of the plots are vinified together, and 2022 has tons of potential. Due to knowing and working directly with Francois Bertheau, we are able to get exceptional pricing on this cuvee, which is one of the best buys from Chambolle-Musigny this vintage, especially considering how much the wines from producers like Barthod have increased. A bottle that should be able to be approached a bit earlier but still do very well in the cellar, and at this low pricing, it's sure to be one of the best Chambolle-Musigny premier cru buys of the vintage.
