The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru La Truffière from Domaine Vincent & Sophie Morey is one of the best wines made at the Domaine and comes from one of the best Premier Cru sites in Puligny, perched high on the slope with shallow, stony soils that deliver wines of notable precision and minerality. Vincent and Sophie, both born into long-established winemaking families in Chassagne and Santenay, founded their Domaine in 2006, tending their vineyards with the utmost care. Their winemaking is classic in style, with fermentation and aging primarily in oak barrels to preserve freshness and site expression. The 2023 vintage was marked by balance and ripeness, offering a clean, vibrant profile showing layered citrus and white stone fruit, a mineral backbone—pure and detailed, with lift and length. While not scored yet, this wine usually gets a 93 from Burghound, and seeing that the 2023 vintage is excellent for white Burgundy, this will be among the top examples ever made here. It's the best buy of the vintage for this revered site, and at lower pricing than the previous vintage, it's not a bottle to miss!
