2020 Vincent Dauvissat (René & Vincent) Chablis 1er Cru La Forest

$209.99
2020 Vincent Dauvissat (René & Vincent) Chablis 1er Cru La Forest
We were able to get a bit more of this top example of the vintage at this friendly pricing. This is an excellent rendition of Dauvissat's La Forest and is definitely one of the best wines Chablis has to offer this vintage.

One of the highly anticipated releases for 2020 Chablis, Dauvissats Forest is one of the flagship wines of the Domaine, and this vintage is another noteworthy effort. Dauvissat continues to fashion some of the best wines of Chablis, and 2020 looks to be a more structured and classic example that falls somewhere between the vintages of 2014 and 2017.
Dauvissat makes one of the best examples of the Forest in Chablis, and 2020 is another measuring stick that is impressively complex, mineral-driven, and structured. This is a vintage to buy for Dauvissat because, as we keep saying, the 2021s and 2022s will be very limited due to poor weather and, as a result, will be at much higher pricing.
We have low pricing here today on some of the only bottles available in the USA right now, and it's a vintage not to miss for Dauvissat Forest.

Decanter (Andy Howard MW) 95 points! "Intriguing nose of lime and lemon zest, a hint of honey, then mineral, salty characters on the palate. A magnificent premier cru, this has the acidity and structure to age many years but is very fine already. The overall impression here is of a Chablis with power, density and which compares to a grand cru."

John Gilman 94+ points! "The 2020 la Forest from Vincent Dauvissat is truly outstanding this year and reminds me very much of the great potential I saw when I first tasted vintages like 1985 and 1990 here, which also were so classically-cut out of the blocks. The superb aromatic constellation delivers scents of apple, pear, lemon, a beautiful base of chalky minerality, paraffin, vanillin oak and a lovely floral topnote that shares a mix of white lilies and lime blossoms. On the palate the wine is pure, precise and full-bodied, with impeccable focus and grip, a lovely core of fruit, outstanding soil undertow and a long, zesty and finish that closes with snappy acids and a complex, seamless finish. A classic in the making. "

Jasper Morris MW (Inside Burgundy) 93-95 points! "Pale primrose, the nose takes some teasing out but all is there. Then the wine starts to build, some liquorice, lots of stones, succulence without sucrosity, complete with a lovely acidity. Really quite backward but all is there. 12.5% alcohol, and a long term winner."

Burghound 92-94 points! "ale primrose, the nose takes some teasing out but all is there. Then the wine starts to build, some liquorice, lots of stones, succulence without sucrosity, complete with a lovely acidity. Really quite backward but all is there. 12.5% alcohol, and a long term winner."
