2021 Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Aux Cras Domaine Gagey

$49.99
2021 Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Aux Cras Domaine Gagey

These are the last bottles we have to offer of this great closeout deal from Jadot! The 2021 Beaune 1er Cru Aux Cras comes from a prized parcel in Beaune, part of the extensive holdings bottled by Jadot. Domaine Gagey oversees many of Jadot's estate vineyards, with Aux Cras being a small but highly regarded Premier Cru site they look after. Aux Cras is a stony, well‑drained site with vines averaging around 50 years of age, which yields fruit with exceptional concentration and finesse. The 2021 vintage, though challenging, produced wines of classical balance with bright acidity, moderate alcohol, and fine tannic structure—earning strong critical praise for its transparency and precision. Fermented with full destemming and aged in Jadot's own Cadus French oak barrels, the wine exhibits lifted aromas of pomegranate, cranberry, and wild strawberry, complemented by subtle spice and a mineral-driven finish. The '21 Cras has the structure to age through the next decade, though it can be enjoyed now and is an excellent buy for premier cru red Burgundy at this very low price!

Jasper Morris 91-93 points! "Glowing fresh purple, absolutely gorgeous nose, a proper ripeness of fruit, the quality of the pinot plant is excellent here. Fills the mouth, the structure is well defined but has ripened sufficiently, and a good long finish. A success this year. Drink from 2026-2033."

James Suckling 93 points! "Beautiful transparency of fruit here with pomegranates, cranberries, strawberries and licorice, bound together by nicely firm tannins and vibrant acidity. Medium-bodied, clear and structured. Drink or hold."
