2019 Hartford / Hartford Court Chardonnay Four Hearts Vineyards
A favorite address in Sonoma, Hartford Court, was founded in 1994 by Don and Jennifer Hartford. Nestled in the country town of Forestville, some fifteen miles from the Pacific, the maritime influence plays a significant role in the style of these wines providing more temperate weather, which gives the wines more restraint. Hartford's Chardonnay's have been the standouts in our opinion, bottling some outstanding single vineyards, with the Four Hearts Vineyards being one of the best buys annually, landing at the perfect intersection of price and quality.
Four Hearts Vineyards are a collection of family-owned sites that averages 40 years old, featuring various clonal selections, including old Wente, Sees and Rued field selections, Dijon Clone 95, and Clone 4. Each clone and field selection is fermented separately, with only the best barrels from each lot making it into the final Cuvee.
The 2018 vintage is an excellent example of Four Hearts Vineyards, seeing the richness and touch of exoticism from the vintage but still balanced and very fresh, as noted by Dunnuck below. It is the perfect drinking Chardonnay that can be enjoyed now and a top vintage for the Hartford family.

Jeb Dunnuck 96 points! "Another Russian River release, the 2019 Chardonnay Four Hearts Vineyard brings plenty of ripe tropical fruit as well as medium to full body, a supple, layered mouthfeel, nicely integrated acidity, and building spice, toast, and green almond nuances. It's another thrilling, brilliant Chardonnay from this estate. Drink bottles over the coming 5-7 years. (Drink between 2021-2028)"

Wine Advocate (Lisa Perrotti-Brown) 94 points! "The 2019 Chardonnay Four Hearts Vineyard was 100% barrel fermented in French oak barrels, 31% new, and aged for 9.5 months. It strides confidently out of the glass with bold, ripe pear and peach notes, plus wafts of pineapple, wet clay, honey toast and fennel seed and a touch of nutmeg. Medium-bodied, the palate is refreshing with a slight phenolic grip to the texture and a long, steely finish. 1,485 cases were made."
