We are down to the last bottles of this excellent Domestic Pinot Noir, which recently made it to #35 on James suckling list of top 100 wines. This Pinot from Raen is one of the best Domestic examples we have tried and is a bottle that is worth every penny, delivering an extraordinary level of quality that shows the beauty of this coastal vineyard. Highly recommended for the Pinot Noir lover, this is all class.

The 2019 Sea Field Vineyard is one of the most outstanding young classic Pinot Noirs I have ever tasted. This wine is a true study of elegance and grace. The Sea View vineyard sits at about 1,500 feet in elevation, about two miles from the Pacific Ocean as the crow flies. Sea View is a Raen estate vineyard and is farmed via Permaculture. It is a cool climate vineyard that tends to have a long hang time which helps the seeds, skins, and stem of the grapes become more physiologically mature.
Wild yeasts are employed during fermentation and this vintage because the incredible fruit that came off the vineyard saw 100% whole cluster. The balance in this wine is truly astounding with no hard edges, incredible depth, and a peacock's tail of a finish. I have had Pinot Noir from all the top producers in California, and quite frankly, most of them are over-extracted, heavy, and cumbersome. In contrast, those that use whole clusters can be the opposite extreme, green and astringent. If I were going to make wine, this would be the style I would strive to create. Aromas of fresh raspberry, orange zest, violets, dried herbs, and wild berries soar from the glass. There are notes of red fruits, candied orange, white tea, rose petals, minerals, and saline on the palate. This is wow wine and must buy for the Pinot Noir lover but act quickly because this is our first and only shot offering this wine.
James Suckling 99 points! "This is really refined with black tea, rose petals, orange and blue fruit. It’s medium-bodied with wild-strawberry and forest-floor flavors. Medium-bodied with great vibrancy and beautiful tannins running through the center palate, which is stitched into the wine. Long and true. 100% whole-cluster fermentation. Subtle and energetic. Better after 2025."
