N.V. Moussé Champagne l'Extra Or d'Eugène Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut

$49.99
N.V. Moussé Champagne l'Extra Or d'Eugène Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut

The Mousse family is one of our favorite growers, and their Pinot Meunier-dominant champagnes are among the best in the grower champagne world, boasting a rich history and offering excellent value. The Mousse Family has been growing grapes since 1750, working on one hillside that spans four different villages in the Marne River Valley. Mousse Fils started making Champagne in 1923 and has perfected the art of Meunier-based Champagne (80% Pinot Meunier, 20% Pinot Noir for this bottle). Fruit is all biodynamically farmed with incredible attention to sustainability and the environment. At certain times of the season, they allow a coop of chickens to roam the vineyards to control pests and fertilize the soil. L'Extra is a late disgorgement with reserve wine dating back to 2003, featuring no fewer than ten vintages blended, a low dosage, and aging on the lees for 18 months. This wine is exceptional, and considering all the work that goes into making it, one has to wonder why it doesn't cost more.

Antonio Galloni 91 points! "The NV Extra Brut Blanc de Noirs Eugène is creamy and expressive. Pear, nutmeg, dried flowers and chamomile take shape nicely. Floral notes continue to develop in the glass, adding a palpable air of refinement. This is a fine entry-level bottling from Moussé Fils. Dosage is 2.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: November 7, 2023. (Drink between 2024-2030)"
