We have a sensational new find in the Champagne category via Vincent Cuillier Chemin des Rois, a striking Brut Nature grower Champagne from one of the exciting rising stars in the Montagne de Reims. Vincent Cuillier comes from a Champagne family, but his own project pushes further into regenerative farming, biodiversity, low-intervention cellar work, and a stripped-down Brut Nature style that lets the vineyard speak clearly. Chemin des Rois is a single-parcel Champagne from Le Mont Agé in the village of Chenay, made from 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay. It is naturally vinified with indigenous yeasts, aged 10 months in oak barrels of different ages, then spends 36 months on the lees before disgorgement with essentially no dosage. The result is a vinous, mineral, and sharply defined Champagne, with Pinot Noir giving depth and texture while Chardonnay adds lift, tension, and chalky precision. This is serious, small-production grower Champagne for anyone who wants purity, energy, and real vineyard character rather than a polished house style, and is one of the top newcomers to the grower scene with a bit note from Galloni!
Antonio Galloni 97 pts! The 2022 Brut Nature Chemin de Rois is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, vinified and aged in barrel. Rich and sumptuous in the glass, the 2022 is seriously impressive right out of the gate. All the elements are so well balanced. The purity of the fruit, the definition, the balance—everything is so profoundly beautiful. This sensational Champagne puts Vincent Cuillier on the map. I can't recommend it highly enough. Bottled with no dosage. Disgorged: March 2025; multiple disgorgements throughout the year. (Drink between 2026 - 2034)
