Vietti has a rich history dating back to the 19th century in Barolo, which is renowned for its incredible work in the Langhe region. This has been an incredible source for decades, and the wines have never been better. Roncaglie vineyard is a site prized for its ideal climate and soil composition perfect for cultivating Nebbiolo with its Limestone- and clay-rich soil, south/south-western exposure, and moderate altitude of 700ft with vines averaging 45 years old.
The 2020 vintage was characterized by a balanced season that allowed for the optimal ripening of Nebbiolo. This resulted in an excellent, classic expression of this site and encapsulated the elegance and complexity of the Roncaglie terroir. While not as profound as the '19, 2020 is super classic, as Galloni notes, and at this low pricing, it is an excellent buy from Vietti.
