2021 Azienda Agricola Valentini Trebbiano d'Abruzzo

$159.99
2021 Azienda Agricola Valentini Trebbiano d'Abruzzo

We were able to get a bit more of the'21 Terbbiano at this same great price and this time around it has a big score from Vinous. Valentini is one of the key addresses of Abruzzo and a truly legendary name in this part of Italy, a family whose work has done as much as anyone’s to bring serious attention to the region’s wines. Producing only three different cuvées and releasing them only in vintages they deem worthy, Valentini has built an almost unmatched reputation for rigor, individuality, and restraint, and the Trebbiano remains one of the estate’s most compelling signatures. The 2021 Trebbiano d’Abruzzo is a superb example of why this wine has such a devoted following: elusive and subtle at first, yet layered with wild complexity, surprising power, and the kind of tension, purity of fruit, and profound minerality that place it comfortably alongside some of the greatest old-world white wines. While great now, these wines do very well with age, and this is only going to get better with a bit more time in the cellar. We only have a limited amount so act quickly!

Vinous (Eric Guido) 95 pts! In true Valentini style, the 2021 Trebbiano d'Abruzzo presents a rich, pretty bouquet that verges on confectionery but maintains its refinement—almond paste and dried peaches meld with sweet herbal nuances and hints of wet stone. Texturally deep and weighty, it excels through saline-infused acidity and crisp pit fruits. A subtle salty inflection and inner florals linger on the long, potent and youthfully tense finale. Readers will find a lot of pleasure in this today, but waiting up to a decade certainly wouldn't hurt. (Drink between 2028 - 2042)
