The 2021 Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona Brunello di Montalcino Pianrosso is the estate’s single-vineyard Brunello and one of the standout wines from an excellent vintage in Montalcino. Pianrosso comes from the domaine’s prized vineyard on the southern side of the appellation, and the 2021 combines the site's natural richness with the freshness, structure, and balance that made this vintage so successful. It is a powerful but polished Sangiovese, with dark cherry, raspberry, and plum layered with cedar, tobacco, spice, and a strong mineral character, supported by firm but refined tannins and excellent acidity. The press has been great and is Suckling's #27 Italian wine of 2026. This is a serious, age-worthy Brunello with plenty of depth, but also the energy and balance to develop beautifully over the next decade and beyond.
