The 2019s from Molitor are fantastic and another amazingly successful vintage for this crucial figure in the Mosel. Wehlener Sonnenuhr is one of the prized sites in the area and is named after an Ancient stone sundial built in the vineyard that is still visible today. The slope has a South-Southwest exposure with weathered, stony, grey Devonian soils. The wines here are elegant with excellent ripeness of fruit, expressive aromatics, and a racy acidity with a silky mouthfeel and powerful minerality. This is one of the pinnacles of sweeter wine but is very balanced and not thick and cloying, being at the Auslese level. This is about as good as Molitor gets, and we have an exceptional price on this bottle. This is not a wine to miss for fans of Auslese and incredibly made Riesling.
