2022 is one of the best vintages of Château Lynch-Bages Blanc de Lynch-Bages in the last decade, and we have a limited amount arriving later this week. First released in 1990 after the estate's "accidental" white plantings in the late 1970s, 2022 continues the modern run of crisp, age-worthy Lynch-Bages blanc. This wine is built on precision with a blend of 67% Sauvignon Blanc, 22% Sémillon, 11% Muscadelle from 7 hectares of vines planted on Garonne gravel on the cool Saint-Sauveur side of Pauillac, hand-picked August 25–31 and raised six months on lees in barrel with 50% new oak. At only 13.1% alcohol, this is fairly classic and pairs well with the cellar's restrained élevage, showing citrus, white peach, and floral notes vivid over a chalky, mouth-watering finish. It's a lovely, delicious Bordeaux blanc and comes highly recommended!
James suckling 95 points! "A bright and vivid white with sliced lemon, grapefruit and mineral character. Medium to full body. Crisp acidity and a minerally finish. Lots of energy this year despite the hot and dry growing season. 67% sauvignon blanc, 22% semillon and 11% muscadelle. Drinking beautifully already."
Jeb Dunnuck 94 points! "While the 2022 Château Lynch Bages Blanc had been bottled just prior to my visit, it wasn't showing any worse for wear and has a terrific perfume of honeyed lime, white flowers, citrus, and chalky minerality. Based on 67% Sauvignon, 22% Sémillon, and 11% Muscadelle, it stays fresh, vibrant, medium-bodied, and refreshing on the palate."
Antonio Galloni 92 points! " The 2022 Blanc de Lynch-Bages is bright and nicely focused, with tons of Sauvignon Blanc aromas and flavors driving the blend. Citrus, white flowers, mint, chalk and tomato leaf are very nicely delineated. The 2022 has just been bottled, but its freshness is notable. (Drink between 2023-2027)"
