2020 Delas Frères Hermitage Domaine des Tourettes

$69.99
2020 Delas Frères Hermitage Domaine des Tourettes
One of the greatest vintages of the Domaine des Tourettes 2020 is outstanding here and we have an excellent price on this bar-setter. As mentioned in our last offer, one the prized addresses of the Rhone Valley, Delas Freres, was founded in 1835 and continues to make world-class wines from the Northern and Southern sectors. In 1993 they were acquired by the Louis Roederer group, keeping them at the top of their game with a nice cash infusion, and since 2013 the entire estate has been farmed organically.
The Domaine des Tourettes is a sourced from a big vineyard that stretches over three communes: Tain-l'Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage and Larnage. The vineyard itself sees many different soil types and with some special plots that many will be familliar with including the excellent sites of Bessards and Meal. This wine sees some of these excellent plots and is a blend of the Lieu-dits L'Ermite, le Sabot, and the great Bessards. There is some great fruit that goes into this and the solo Bessards bottling Delas makes goes for ~$200 a bottle. While the Bessards is the better wine, when considering the quality of fruit that goes into this for the asking price its an incredible buy and and honestly not far off from their flagship wines. One of the all time top vintages this has incredible potential and we have excellent pricing here today on few cases and is not one to miss this vintage.

Jeb Dunnuck 95-97 points! "An incredibly consistent wine, you can never go wrong with the Domaine des Tourettes release from Delas. Inky hued, with a great nose of pure cassis, crushed rocks, camphor, new leather, and hints of bacon fat, the 2020 Hermitage Domaine Des Tourettes hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a round, layered texture, beautiful depth on the mid-palate, and velvety tannins. Aromatically, it's not far off the Bessards cuvée, yet it's more plush and up-front on the palate. It will benefit from just 4-5 years of bottle age and should have decades of longevity. It's another totally brilliant wine from this talented team."

Vinous (Josh Raynolds) 94-95 points! "Inky ruby. Smoke- and mineral-accented black and blue fruits, violet, licorice and an olive nuance on the deeply perfumed nose. Stains the palate with intense cherry, blueberry and fruitcake flavors that are sharpened by a spicy touch of cracked pepper. Youthfully chewy tannins frame an impressively long, penetrating finish that leaves candied dark berry and floral pastille notes behind. These are still young days for this wine but, as usual, it already screams "Hermitage"."
