2021 Bernard Levet Côte-Rôtie Améthyste

$49.99
2021 Bernard Levet Côte-Rôtie Améthyste
The 2021 is another great vintage of the Amethyste from Levet, and these are our last bottles to have to offer which just arrived in stock. Levet only has about 3.5 hectares of vines, which is extremely small, but has holdings in some revered vineyards throughout Cote-Rotie. Levet's vines have been passed down through the family for generations and are made up of three different sites. Currently, the estate is in the hands of Bernard's daughter Agnes as she continues the legacy of this tiny but exceptional Domaine.
Amethyste is one of Levet's gems, sourcing from some magnificent vineyards, including Cote Blonde, Cote Brune, Mollard, Baleyat, and Chavaroche. It is made very traditionally with whole clusters, old wood, and has long been the favorite from Levet as it is consistently one of the best buys for Cote-Rotie.
2021 looks to be a very classic example of the Amethyste Cote-Rotie with excellent tension and beautiful complexity of bright fruits, flowers, and spice. With no price increase over the previous vintage, it is sure to be the best buy of the vintage once again. Levet is one of the few Cote-Rotie producers still offering incredibly made wines at reasonable pricing, so don't miss these last bottles!

Vinous (Josh Raynolds) 92-94 points! "Deep, lurid violet color. High-pitched red and blue fruit, floral and baking spice scents, along with deeper suggestions of olive and dark chocolate. In a bright, nervy style, showing fine clarity and spicy lift to its bitter cherry, blueberry and allspice flavors. Closes long and precise, with the red fruit and floral notes repeating."
