2023 Stolo Family Vineyards Pinot Noir

$29.99
2023 Stolo Family Vineyards Pinot Noir

The 2023 Stolo Family Vineyards Pinot Noir is a small-production Pinot from Stolo's oldest vine site right outside the city limits of Cambria in the new SLO AVA. The famous Raj Parr bought the estate in 2020, and the 2023 was made entirely by him and reflects his love of Burgundian-style Pinot Noirs. We just tasted this at the winery, and it’s a serious Pinot Noir bottle at an incredible price. Stolo is in a cool, wind-driven corridor that naturally preserves acidity and detail. The winemaking is transparent and low-intervention, with careful hand-harvesting, gentle handling, and restrained oak. This reminds me of the Dujac style in California, and seeing that Raj is very familiar with the producer, the style tracks with that world, especially with the whole-cluster spice and lift happening here. It’s elegant and focused with red fruit and red flowers, a mineral line, and savory spice, plus real persistence that improves with air. It’s already very enjoyable, but give it a year or two, and it should add weight and complexity the way great Pinot does. Simply a lovely classically styled Pinot Noir that’s an easy multi-bottle buy, don’t miss it!
