1989 Chenu-Lefebvre Chorey-les-Beaune Les Beaumonts

$89.99
1989 Chenu-Lefebvre Chorey-les-Beaune Les Beaumonts

After visiting and tasting with Clément and Christophe Chenu last year, we gained a renewed appreciation for these wines, and today, we're excited to offer another gem sourced directly from the Chenu cellar. With Burgundy pricing continuing to climb, especially on new releases, it's refreshing to present something mature, ready to drink, and well-priced from a strong vintage. The 1989 Chenu-Lefebvre Chorey-les-Beaune Les Beaumonts comes from one of the appellation's top sites, uniquely situated between Savigny and Aloxe-Corton. Les Beaumonts is the largest vineyard in Chorey, and Chenu has some ancient vines, including parcels planted around 1900, making this one of the domaines top cuvées and can be better than the Lavieres. 1989 was a warmer, drier, and generous vintage, though classically made examples have aged well in proper cellars, and this is a fine example of that. Chenu-Lefebvre follows a traditional approach: spontaneous fermentation, minimal intervention, and élevage in older barrels, allowing the site and vintage to shine. Christophe and Clément painstakingly taste through every bottle in their back-vintage stock, discarding flawed bottles and reconditioning the rest with fresh corks and a touch of sulfur for preservation. This bottle shows remarkable vitality—cherry, earth, sous-bois, leather, and bright acidity. It's a true insider's find in Burgundy, a wine with pedigree, provenance, and age, in perfect condition, at pricing rarely seen in today's Burgundy market. Our clients love these wines, and we highly recommend them.
