Finding a newly released bottle at reasonable pricing from this vintage is very challenging, but Jacuart is one of the few still offering this vintage. This sees some excellent fruit from some of the favorite villages of Champagne, and we still have some of the only bottles available in the USA.
Here is a rare late release from an under-the-radar Champagne producer founded in 1964 in the village of Reims. Throughout the decades, Jacquart has always stood by the idea that Champagne should be enjoyed by everyone offering great wines at great pricing. Jacquart is most noted for their Mosaique Cuvee, of which there are a few versions, a non-vintage brut, a rose, and sometimes a vintage Cuvee like we have here. A blend of 51% Chardonnay from the villages of Avize, Choully, Vertus, and Villers Marmery and 49% Pinot Noir from Mailly, Verzenay, Verzy, and Vertus. 2008 spent six years on the lees, aging in the Jacquart Cellars for years afterward. It is an elegant Champagne with aromas of yellow apple, hazelnut, toasted, almond, peppermint, red berries, and chalky minerality. The Palate is fresh and vibrant with lovely effervescence, leading to creamy white-fleshed and red fruits with tactile precision before notes of grapefruit and chalky minerality, ending with a long staining finish and excellent lift. 2008 is drinking incredibly, with the secondary notes from age just starting to weave their way into the beautiful bottle of bubbles. This is a great Champagne buy from this excellent vintage, with the bottles coming directly from the Jacquart cellars in perfect condition. We have the only bottles available in the USA and cannot recommend this enough for Champagne fans.
