The 2023s from Jean Pascal are sensational, and we have one of their top premier crus this vintage, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chalumeaux. A husband-and-wife duo makes the wines here: Yann Morvan runs the Domaine, and his wife, Alexandra, makes the wines. Applying organic cultivation to their vineyards, they also limit yields, use native yeasts, and are one of the producers that pour lots of work into farming, believing great wine is made in the vineyard, not the cellar.
Les Chalumeaux is a great one, sourced from 50-year-old vines grown on a mix of clay and limestone soil, and is an underrated vineyard site located on the border of Meursault and Blagny, as one of the highest vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet, sharing a similar terroir to Les Perrieres. This wine shows the precision of Puligny-Montrachet with the richness and depth of Meursault, and it will do very well with cellar time. An excellent buy for the category, we have low pricing today on a limited amount!
