2023 Vincent Dauvissat (René & Vincent) Chablis 1er Cru La Forest

$169.99
2023 Vincent Dauvissat (René & Vincent) Chablis 1er Cru La Forest

We have a bit more of this one after recently selling out at our same great price! Consistently one of the best premier crus of Chablis in any given vintage, Dauvissat has achieved legendary status as one of the greatest producers in Chablis, making the single best example of Foret in the village. Dauvissat remains a benchmark address for the entirety of Chablis, and his Forest is the flagship; no other producer captures this vineyard as well as Dauvissat does. 2023 here is another fantastic example from this address, and while the weather this vintage was unruly, this cuvee is unfazed, proving why Dauvissat is one of the greats of Chablis. It's not a wine to miss from Dauvissat this vintage, especially with these big scores at this low pricing!

Decanter 95 pts! Premier cru La Forest from Dauvissat is a wine of lovely richness, concentration and depth. Aromas range from lemon peel to passion fruit and hazelnut, and the silky, fine texture is still substantial enough to impress on the lingering finish. The wine is among the most well-known wines from Dauvissat, as one might expect; the domaine owns nearly 3.5ha spread over thirty small parcels, in soils with a high clay content that brings a slightly exotic edge to the wine. (Drink between 2028 - 2050)

John Gilman 94+ The 2023 Chablis “la Forest” from Vincent Dauvissat is an equally stunning wine in the making. The wine is already very complex on both the nose and palate, with the bouquet wafting from the glass in a blend of apple, pear, tangerine, paraffin, a crystalline expression of limestone minerality, citrus zest and a gentle framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, racy and very precise, with great depth of pure fruit, superb mineral drive and grip, great balance and a very long, complex and vibrant finish. The wine will no doubt drink beautifully right out of the blocks, but I would try to keep my hands off of it for at least another half dozen years, just to let its secondary layers of complexity emerge. This is dazzling in quality this year! (Drink between 2031 - 2070)
