2014 Au Pied du Mont Chauve Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Macherelles

$109.99
2014 Au Pied du Mont Chauve Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Macherelles

We have a lovely 2014 Chassagne 1er Cru from Au Pied du Mont Chauve today that has just arrived. This domaine was established in the late 2000s by the Picard family and is currently led by Francine Picard. The estate focuses on precise, vineyard-driven Chassagne with their 1er Cru Les Macherelles coming from a tiny ~0.48 ha holding in the northern sector next to Les Chenevottes, planted on iron-tinged clay-limestone soils, on an east-facing mid-slope. 2014, as many know, is a great white Burgundy vintage with vibrant acids and clarity, pairing well with the domaine's disciplined and restrained style, which underscores the site's minerality rather than masking it with oak. We just tasted this wine, and it is tense with some Meursault generosity showing bright lemon, green apple, and pear with white flowers, a hint of grilled hazelnut, and struck-flint reduction. The palate is linear but not austere, delivering good richness with a mouthwatering finish with some trace minerals. It's a nice 2014 with good energy that can be enjoyed right away. These bottles are ex-cellar in perfect condition, and we currently have the only bottles available in the world!
