1989 Robert Ampeau Pommard

$79.99
1989 Robert Ampeau Pommard

We have a bit more of this best buy for red Burgundy with age. Robert Ampeau has been a go-to source for incredible back vintage wines, many of which haven't moved from their original resting place in decades. Ampeau has a massive backlog of wines in one of the coldest cellars in Burgundy, so many bottles that they are stacked almost to the ceiling everywhere. He's a winemaker who likes to release his wines in phases over time, and over the years, we have had excellent examples of both red and white wines here from as far back as the early 70s. The Reds are the insider buy, and Ampeau, being primarily a white Burgundy producer, makes incredibly elegant Red Burgundy. We recently tried one when we were in France a few weeks ago, and it is still very fresh with a brilliant core of red fruits, earth, minerals, mushrooms, and excellent acidity. This is textbook Pommard with age, coming directly from the cellars at Ampeau, and with his sporadic late releases, this is one to buy now because it is unknown when we will see these again. This also has a few great recent notes on CellarTracker, and at this low pricing, it's a fantastic buy for perfect condition Burgundy with age.
