Cellar Tracker 92.5 pts!

2009 Louis Latour Corton-Clos de la Vigne au Saint Grand Cru is a mature red Burgundy from a historic holding on the hill of Corton, made even more compelling in rare half-bottle format and coming ex-domaine, just released from Louis Latour’s own cellars. Clos de la Vigne au Saint is an ancient vineyard first recorded in 1375, and the Latour family’s connection to the site dates back to 1738, making it one of the defining wines of their domaine holdings. The vineyard sits in Aloxe-Corton on the lower part of the Corton slope with full southern exposure, rusty red marl and limestone soils, and an average vine age of 40+ years, giving a style of Corton that combines Grand Cru power with a more elegant, aromatic frame. The 2009 vintage was warm, ripe, and generous across Burgundy, and now with proper cellar age, it has entered a beautiful mature window, showing black cherry, raspberry, sous bois, licorice, earth, spice, and a long, structured finish. It is very rare to find Grand Cru red Burgundy in half-bottle format, especially at this age and with this impeccable ex-domaine provenance, making this a compelling library release direct from the Latour cellar, not to miss!
