2013 Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Poissenots

$99.99
2013 Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Poissenots

We sold out of this late release quickly after our last offer, but we're able to get a bit more. We ended up opening this at a dinner with one of our suppliers, and it was a beautiful, classic bottle of Red Burgundy. It shows gorgeous red fruit, some beautiful violets, and a healthy dose of earth and terroir with very nice refinement and focus. It is incredibly elegant and balanced on the palate with a long finish focused on fruit and bit minerals. Poissenots is a long, slender vineyard at the northern end of the appellation featuring well-drained limestone and marl soils, producing structured yet refined Pinot Noir. The 2013 vintage in Burgundy was marked by a cool, late-growing season with challenges from hail and delayed flowering, resulting in lower yields but good concentration and fresh acidity, making for some elegant wines. The wine was made using the standard Jadot treatment, using open-top fermentation and aging in French oak (typically 30% new) to balance fruit purity with structured tannins. This is gorgeous right now and is in a beautiful spot to enjoy, but I could spend a few more years in the cellar with no issue. We have a limited amount, and it's one of the best Premier Crus from Burgundy with age we've offered this year!
