2014 Au Pied du Mont Chauve Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Macherelles

$109.99
2014 Au Pied du Mont Chauve Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Macherelles

We have an excellent Chassagne 1er Cru today from this great 2014 vintage from Au Pied du Mont Chauve, a domaine created in the late 2000s by the Picard family and led today by Francine Picard. The estate focuses on precise, vineyard-driven Chassagne with their 1er Cru Les Macherelles coming from a tiny ~0.48 ha holding in the northern sector next to Les Chenevottes, planted on iron-tinged clay-limestone soils, on an east-facing mid-slope. 2014, as many know, is an outstanding white-Burgundy vintage with vibrant acids and clarity pairing well with the domaine's disciplined style (fermentation and 12–15 months' élevage in French oak, ~25–30% new; judicious bâtonnage; full malo), underscoring the site's minerality rather than masking with oak. The wine is tense yet generous, showing bright lemon and pear with white flowers, a hint of grilled hazelnut, and struck-flint reduction. The palate is linear but not austere, delivering drive, depth, and a long, mouth-watering finish with saline cut and chalky minerals. It's serious 2014 with excellent energy, with real premier-cru presence and an incredibly rare find that can be enjoyed now. These bottles are coming ex-cellar in fantastic condition, and we currently have the only bottles available in the world.
