John Gilman 93 pts! As the Mugnerets had a few more new casks this year in the cellar, both the Chaignots and Feusselottes were raised in fifty percent new wood this year. The Chaignots is very lovely and returns to the red fruity them of the vintage chez Mugneret in 2014, wafting from the glass in a very classy blend of cherries, red plums, a touch of Vosne spice elements, dusty rose, gamebird, soil and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and tightly-knit out of the blocks, with a rock solid core, ripe tannins and a long, vibrant and still quite primary finish. This will be terrific, but it is going to need some bottle age to start to stir. (Drink between 2025-2065)
